Internet Internet service will be active on polling day
Dhaka, Dec 23: Instructions have been given to keep telephone, fax and internet connectivity active for quick delivery of polling results. This instruction was given in the Political-6 circular of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In the circular, it is strictly forbidden to smoke in the polling station and to carry flammable materials such as lighters and lighters. Also the use of electric heaters or any type of stove inside the center is completely prohibited. This particular circular states that no candidate or his/her camp shall be set up within a radius of 400 yards of any polling station. This restriction shall not prejudice the jurisdiction of the Returning Officer as provided in Section 79(4) of the Representation of the People Order, 1972. Voting must be done legally. In order to control any situation not mentioned in this circular, the circulars issued by the Election Commission, laws and related rules and regulations/procedures must be followed.
The circular has also given instructions to appoint brave and impartial officers to take polls. The Returning Officer has been asked to ensure transport and security arrangements for the members of the Electoral Inquiry Committee. The circular further states that after polling and counting, the presiding officers with the help of law enforcement agencies will promptly provide the counting data and related documents to the Assistant Returning Officer. In the circular, law and order forces have been instructed to use the vehicles of their respective organizations.
Earlier on Wednesday, Election Commissioner (EC) Brigadier General (retired) Ahsan Habib Khan said, "Election officials have been instructed, there is no exemption for irregularities. Police will take action if someone creates trouble outside the polling station. If there is any irregularity, the polling of that center will be stopped. Those responsible will be suspended subject to investigation."
