Dhaka, July 21: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her firm conviction to provide houses with land to those who are landless and homeless.

She said, as the prime minister, it is my responsibility to ensure the beautiful life of every citizen of the country. If anyone has information about a landless or homeless person in Bangladesh, please let us know. Irrespective of party affiliation, we will house, address and provide livelihood to those who remain homeless.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister said these things during the transfer of land including 26,229 houses among the landless and homeless under the second phase of the third phase of the Asharyan-2 project across the country.

She handed over the house documents and keys virtually through video conference from Gana Bhavan. She also declared 52 upazilas including all the upazilas of Panchagarh and Magura districts as homeless and landless upazilas.

Sheikh Hasina said, there may be differences of party opinion, it does not matter. The country is ours. I am the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, that means I am responsible for every citizen of Bangladesh.

She said, I see people as people and want every person to live beautifully. That is what my father taught. That's why I want to provide a good living for every person in this country.

The Prime Minister said, I hope we can make every upazila of every district of Bangladesh free from the landless and homeless in this way. Everyone will have a house, a permanent address, a nice residence and they will live well. I believe we can do it, God willing.

At this time, the Prime Minister requested all political parties, administration, law and order forces, public representatives including Awami League and its affiliated organizations to find out whether there are any landless or homeless people in their respective villages or areas.

The Prime Minister said that the government is providing shelter for people from all walks of life. Also loans are being provided and training opportunities are being created. We also want them to take that opportunity to improve their lives through their own employment and to acquire the ability to buy land and build a house. Not to get a hand from anyone, but to stand on your own feet and live with dignity.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister interacted with the beneficiaries from Gana Bhavan, connected to five places in five districts virtually.
