Dhaka, Oct 25: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called for a rally at Motijheel Shapla Square in the capital on October 28. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said they will not be allowed to hold public gathering.

DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar said these things in his office on Tuesday.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has not been given permission to hold a rally in Shapla square of Motijheel so far. They will not be allowed to hold meetings. Because Jamaat-e-Islami is an anti-independence political party. The group accused of war crimes. Its top leaders have been hanged for war crimes. There is no way to allow Jamaat-e-Islami to hold rallies.

Biplab Kumar Sarkar said that Jamaat-e-Islami is different from other political parties. No other political party has been charged with war crimes. Jamaat's registration has also been cancelled.

In response to the question, what will be the role of the police if they want to hold a meeting without permission, he said that according to the ordinance of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, no one can hold any meeting without the permission of the police commissioner. If Jamaat-e-Islami wants to hold meetings without the permission of the commissioner, appropriate legal action will be taken against them.

Jamaat has announced to hold a rally on October 28 to demand the establishment of a caretaker government, the release of leaders and activists including Jamaat Amir, the withdrawal of false cases and the control of rising commodity prices.

Earlier, BNP had called for a mass meeting in Dhaka on October 28. In the meantime, they have started preparations for the rally.
