Dhaka, November 17: Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki said that there was no meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam. However, the Minister of State had earlier said that the Japanese ambassador had been summoned for commenting on the national elections.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Shahriar Alam wrote, "We called the Japanese ambassador in Bangladesh. We told him everything we needed to say. We don't think it is necessary to say everything in detail in the media, so we don't want to speak to any media about this. Bangladesh-Japan We continue to work with the expectation that the relationship will deepen through the upcoming Prime Ministerial level meeting."

On Thursday (November 17), journalists asked Japanese ambassador Ito Naoki about the state minister's statement. Then he said, "I have not met the state minister in the meantime."

On this day, the ambassador had a farewell meeting with Planning Minister MA Mannan. After the meeting, the ambassador told reporters, "IMF will start releasing budget support next year. However, we have not yet taken a final decision on providing budget support. Discussions are underway. We hope a good decision will be taken."

The planning minister said, "Japan is our good friend. Naoki has worked here for almost three years. He was also my personal friend. He is going to Japan now because of the Prime Minister's visit to Japan. After that, he will come back to Bangladesh again and leave once."

Regarding the budget support, he said, "We have asked. They are considering. Hopefully we will get this support."

The ambassador said, "I had a great time in Bangladesh for three years. We were involved in many mega projects. Among them, Metrorail Line-6 ​​will be inaugurated in December. This is a milestone project. Besides, several other projects are being implemented, including Matarbari Power Project, airport expansion."

He also said, "Bangladesh is passing 50 years. Relations with Japan are also going on for 50 years. In this regard, the Prime Minister's visit is working to further develop relations. Bangladesh has made a lot of progress."
