Kazakh citizen stabbed to death in Rooppur: 3 Belarusian nationals held

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 28: A Kazakh national working at the Rooppur nuclear power project in Pabna district has been stabbed to death. Another Kazakh citizen was injured in the incident. Police have detained three Belarusian nationals for questioning on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Sebist Vrladimir (50), who was working for a contractor named Nikim at the Rooppur nuclear power plant.

Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Alam said the incident took place on Saturday night in a room of building No. 6 of the Green City project, a residential building of the Rooppur nuclear power plant.

It is learned that Vrladimir, a citizen of Kazakhstan, had a quarrel with some Belarusian nationals over financial transactions. At one stage, Vrladimir was stabbed to death. Another Kazakh national was injured. Police recovered the body at night. Following the autopsy of the deceased at the Pabna General Hospital morgue on Sunday morning, the process of sending the body to Kazakhstan has begun.
