Khulna division registers 22 deaths, 615 new cases in 24 hours

Dhaka, June 19: Khulna division registered the highest death in the last 24 hours as 22 people succumbed to the deadly virus- seven of which took place is Kushtia.

Apart from the deaths, 615 new cases were reported from the 10 districts in the division, according to Rasheda Sultana, director of the departmental health department, who confirmed the information at noon on Saturday (June 19).

In the last 24 hours, seven people have died in Kushtia district, four in Satkhira district, three each in Khulna and Jessore districts, two each in Chuadanga and Meherpur district and one in Jhenaidah district.

In the previous two 24-hour cycles- Wednesdy to Thursday and Thursday to Friday- 18 and eight people had died respectively.

A total of 44,269 people have been identified as cronavirus positive till Saturday morning in the 10 districts of the division since the onset of pandemic. The coronavirus death toll touched 796. During this time, 34,126 people have recovered.

Analysis of district-wise coronavirus data of the Department of Health shows that 149 new coronavirus cases have been identified in Khulna in 24 hours. A total of 12,598 coronavirus cases have been registered in the district. Of these, 206 died and 9,934 have recovered.

Bagerhat reported three new coronavirus cases, taking the case tally to 2,482. While 63 people died, 1,722 people have recovered.

Satkhira's coronavirus infection tally increased to 2,852 after another 56 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The district has recorded 60 deaths so far, while 1,928 people have recovered.

In Jessore, 183 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. A total of 9,407 people have been identified so far in the district. Of these, 104 died and 6,741 have recovered.
