Kidnapping Kidnapping of woman tax officer in ex-husband's plan
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 27 August 2023: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Joint Commissioner Masuma Khatun was abducted at the behest of ex-husband retired government official Harun Or Rashid. His anger was on Masuma. From that anger, he planned to kidnap Masuma Khatun and torture her physically. Masuma was released on her own recognizance the day after her abduction on August 17. By then, the miscreants beat her, broke one of his legs and injured various parts of his body.
According to the plan, a house is fixed in Hatirjheel for 50 thousand rupees. Driver Masood was taken by trick. Masuma fired him a few days ago. Because of this, Masud was angry with Masuma. Seven people participated in the kidnapping mission under the leadership of this Masud. As it was not possible to take him to that house on the night of his abduction on August 17, he was taken to a garage in Kanchpur area of Narayanganj and was beaten in the car at that time.
After going to Mothertech area the next day, three people were arrested by the local people on the screams of the woman officer. Four people escaped. After that, Masuma filed a case at Ramna police station in the case of kidnapping and torture. RAB disclosed this information after the arrest of three people involved including the main accused in the case, Masum alias Masud. The three arrested are Md. Masum alias Masud (42), Abdul Jalil alias Panu (48) and Hafiz alias Shahni (48).
RAB Law and Media Branch Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said on Saturday that National Board of Revenue (NBR) Joint Tax Commissioner Masuma was abducted from the capital's Moghbazar area around 8:30 pm on August 17. After 18 hours of abduction, local people rescued him from Mothertech area of the capital on August 18. In this incident, the victim woman herself filed a case against her former driver Masud and his associates under the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act at Ramna police station in the capital. Saiful Islam, Abu Bakar Siddique and Yashin Arafat aka Raju arrested by Ramna police station.
According to RAB, late on Friday (August 26), the main accused in the case Masum alias Masud's associate Abdul Jalil and Hafiz were arrested. He also said that the arrested Masood said during the interrogation that he contacted the victim's first husband Harun Or Rashid after his dismissal. He lured Masood with a large sum of money and a better life to take the victimized woman tax officer to a residence in the capital's Hatirjheel area to teach her how to do it.
