King Jigme Khesar of Bhutan will visit Kurigram

Dhaka, March 22: King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan will visit Kurigram this month. He will visit the special economic zone in Madhabaram area on the east bank of Dharla river in Bhogdanga union of Kurigram Sadar upazila.

Executive Chairman and Senior Secretary of Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) Sheikh Yusuf Haroon said this in an exchange meeting at Kurigram Press Club on Thursday (March 21) afternoon.

He said that the delegation of Bhutan visited on March 10. Bhutan is very interested in economic zones. It will open a new milestone in the economic and commercial relations between the two countries. Hope to sign an agreement on economic zone with the King of Bhutan. If everything goes well, King Jigme Khesar Wangchuck of Bhutan will visit the Kurigram Economic Zone on March 28.

A special economic zone is being established in Kurigram to implement the promise given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, the district administration has handed over 133 acres of land to BEJA. The process of acquisition of another 86 acres of land is in progress. A total of 211 acres of land will be required here. Beza General Manager (Financial Budget) Sheikh Yobaid Hossain and Kurigram Municipal Mayor Kaziul Islam were present in the exchange meeting.
