Dhaka, August 4: The main accused Noor Hossain sentenced to death in Narayanganj's seven murder case has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the arms case. The court of Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge (Second) Sabina Yasmin announced this verdict on Thursday (August 4) at 12:30 pm.

Salah Uddin Sweet said, on May 15, 2014, a revolver, eight rounds of bullets and eight shotgun cartridges were recovered during a raid in Shimrail Tekpara area of Siddhirganj. Later, the then SI Masud Khan of Siddhirganj Thana Police filed a case as a plaintiff in this incident. The court announced the verdict in the presence of the accused based on the testimony of four witnesses in that case.

Advocate Md. Kamal Hossain, the lawyer for the accused, said, "We are not satisfied with this verdict. We will appeal to the High Court."

At the same time, the court took 4 witnesses against Noor Hossain in the drug and weapons case. The witnesses are - Md Alauddin, Shah Alam and Babar Nikhil. After the testimony, the court fixed September 29 as the next date of testimony.

Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman said the court has announced a verdict against Noor Hossain in a weapons case. He was brought to Narayanganj court from Kashimpur jail under tight security before the verdict was announced and after the judicial proceedings he was again taken to Kashimpur jail under tight security.

Earlier on April 27, 2014, seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam, were abducted from the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road. The police recovered their bodies from the Shitalakshya river on April 30 and 31. The bodies were submerged in the river with 24 brick-laden cement bags tied at the feet within a kilometer. The legs were tied with ropes. The hands were tied behind with a rope. The mouth was tied to the neck with double polythene. Abdomen was ripped open with sharp weapons.

District and Sessions Judge Court Noor Hossain awarded death sentence to 26 people including three former officers of RAB in the case of this incident.
