LMG Post Light machine gun posts have been set up in all police outposts in Sylhet
Dhaka, April 9: Special security has been beefed up at police outposts and police investigation centers, including 17 police stations in Sylhet. Bunkers have been set up at each police station, including six police stations and four outposts in the city, and state-of-the-art Automatic Light Machine Gun (LMG) posts have been set up there.
Besides, work is underway to install this automatic weapon in 11 police stations of the district. At the same time, an additional 30 to 50 police personnel have been deployed in each police station considering the risk.
Such measures have been taken at the direction of the police headquarters to avoid any untoward incident in the ongoing situation, the concerned said.
Recently, sabotage activities have been noticed in different important places including different police stations and upazila parishads of the country. Public and private installations have been attacked.
State and private property has been destroyed by vandalism and fire. In this situation, special security has been taken at six police stations, all outposts and all important installations under Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP). Bunkers have been constructed with sand and soil in each installation. Police personnel are also carrying out security duties by setting up LMG posts in the bunker.
Bunkers have been constructed with sandbags in the premises of Sylhet Kotwali Model Police Station. A policeman on duty there is sitting on an LMG shelf with a hamlet on his head. Additional members are deployed at the police station. Considering the risk, such posts can be seen on the roofs of some police stations and in the open space in front.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (DB and Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police BM Ashraf Ullah Taher said LMGs and ammunition have been provided to all police stations in the district under the direction of the police headquarters. Besides, a skilled policeman and his assistant have been deployed one by one to run these.
