Journalist's Murder Main accused in journalist Nadeem's murder case has been arrested
Dhaka, June 17: RAB has arrested UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu from Panchagarh, the main accused in Jamalpur murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem. On Saturday morning, he was arrested from Mantajur Rahman's house in Char Tistapara area of Chilahati Union in Debiganj Upazila bordering Panchagarh.
According to local residents and police, three RAB teams from Dhaka arrested Mahmudul Alam Babu from his uncle Mantajur Rahman's house. At that time RAB also arrested two others who came with him.
Locals said that the RAB raided before the people of the village woke up. RAB did not waste time after arresting Chairman Babu. RAB members quickly left for Dhaka with the arrested persons.
Local UP member Lutfar Rahman said that the chairman was arrested from Mantajur Rahman's house half a kilometer away from my house. On my way there, I saw the accused being taken away in a RAB vehicle. I have found out that Mantajur Rahman is the uncle of that chairman. He came here on Friday evening.
It is to be noted that Golam Rabbani, Jamalpur District Representative of BanglaNews24.com, Bakshiganj Upazila Representative of Ekatar TV and Daily Manabzamin and Vice President of Jamalpur Online Journalists Association, Golam Rabbani, were attacked by terrorist forces in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar last Wednesday around 10 pm. He died the next day Thursday around 2:45 pm while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media wing, said that after the arrest of accused Babu, RAB's raiding team left for Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Nadeem's wife Monira Begum filed a murder case with Bakshiganj police station naming 22 people including UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu and accusing 25 unknown people. Jamalpur Superintendent of Police Nasir Uddin said that a case has been filed. Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu was made the main accused in the case. We have 10 arrests so far.
