Mamunul Haque among Top 30 Hefazat-e-Islam leaders under surveillance

Dhaka, April 9: Law enforcement is keeping a close watch on the top 30 leaders, including Central Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam Mamunul Haque, on charges of sabotage and killings across the country recently in the wake of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh. However, no one is talking about when they may be arrested. Concerned people say that the law and order situation in the country is being closely monitored.

A responsible source of the law enforcement told Dhaka Post that both the saboteur and the instigator of the sabotage are under the surveillance of the law enforcement. They will be arrested as soon as they get involved in the investigation.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against 18 people including Mamunul Haque at the capital's Paltan police station under the Attempted Murder and Explosives Act. Mamunul Haque has been named in the case as the mastermind of sabotage, the mastermind of the blast and the mastermind of the assassination attempt on innocent people.

Regarding the arrest, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Nurul Islam said, "We are investigating the case. Action will be taken against those found involved in the investigation."

According to responsible sources, top leaders including Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque have been under surveillance since the March 26, 27 and 28 sabotage across the country including Dhaka-Brahmanbaria. The issue of their arrest has already been discussed at the police headquarters.

The arrests were discussed at a Home Ministry meeting on Wednesday (April 7th). Intelligence officials have discussed the law and order situation in Dhaka after the arrest of the top leaders.

Besides Mamunul, Hefazat-e-Islam leaders Maulana Nurul Islam Jehadi, Mufti Monir Hossain Kashemi, Maulana Zakaria Noman Fayezi, Maulana Faisal Ahmed, Maulana Mushtaqunnabi, Maulana Hafez Md. Jobayer, Majedur Rahman, Maulana Hawab. Maulana Lokman Habib, Nasir Uddin Monir, Maulana Bahauddin Zakaria, Maulana Jasim Uddin, Maulana Masudul Karim, Maulana Hafeez Md. Tayyab and 30 others are under surveillance.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night (March 8), there were rumors that Mamunul Haque was arrested by law enforcement from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in the capital's Mohammadpur.

Clearing the air, Mamunul Haque came on Facebook Live on Thursday (April 8) at noon. At this time he apologised to everyone for his personal mistake.
