Sheikh Hasina Mango diplomacy: Sheikh Hasina receives tea, pineapple, honey as gift from India
Dhaka, July 11, 2021: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently sent mangoes to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as a token of goodwill.
Besides, mangoes have also been sent from Bangladesh to the border states of Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and Tripura. Indian leaders have already thanked Sheikh Hasina for the gift of delicious mangoes. Courtesy does not end here, they also want to send a return gift to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Those gifts include a variety of organic products, including pineapple, pepper, and turmeric.
According to a report on Friday, Tripura Chief Minister Biplob Kumar Dev is planning to send a delicious Queen Pineapple as a gift to Sheikh Hasina. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will send a variety of organic products including pepper, turmeric and tea.
On Friday, Chief Minister Conrad said that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina had sent us 300 kg of mangoes as a token of goodwill. Special thanks to him for this. This time I will send pepper, turmeric and various organic products from Meghalaya to Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya chief minister said he had taken five kg of mangoes from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's gift, the rest had been shared among his colleagues and senior officials.
Like Meghalaya, the Chief Minister of Tripura also received a gift of 300 kg of broken mango from Sheikh Hasina. Produced in Rangpur, this mango is famous for its aroma and sweet taste. As a 'return gift', Chief Minister Biplob Deb wants to send the famous Queen variety of pineapple from Tripura to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. And that gift can weigh about 750 kg. An official of the Chief Minister's Office confirmed the matter.
Top officials in Meghalaya said the state could send huge stocks of organic honey, lacadong turmeric, organic tea and some other products to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
