MC College MC College gangrape: 5 culprits arrested
Dhaka: Another accused named Rajan Ahmed (28) has been arrested for gang-raping his wife while keeping her husband in Sylhet MC College dormitory. Five accused were arrested in this shocking incident.
A team of RAB-9 arrested him from Kachua Nayatila area of Fenjuganj in Sylhet around 1pm on Monday (September 26). Another person named Ainul Islam was also arrested for helping Rajan to escape.
Earlier on Sunday evening, a RAB-9 team arrested Mahbubur Rahman Rony, another accused in the case, from Shayestaganj in Habiganj.
At the same time, one of the accused in the case Rabiul Hasan was arrested by the detective police from Nabiganj upazila. Police also arrested Saifur Rahman, the main accused in the gang-rape and arms case, from Sunamganj's Chhatak Kheyaghat area on Sunday morning. And Arjun Lashkar was arrested from Mantala of Madhabpur in Habiganj.
Last Friday afternoon, a housewife went to MC College with her husband. In the evening, 7-8 leaders and activists took them from the college to the dormitory. The two were then beaten. At the same time, they gang-raped the wife in front of her husband. Upon receiving the news, the police rescued the couple from the dormitory at night. The raped woman was later admitted to the OCC center of Osmani Hospital.
The victim's husband filed a case with the Shahparan police station on Saturday morning. In the case, 3 leaders and activists of Chhatra League and 3 others have been accused.
Meanwhile, the raped girl (20) has described the incident that happened to her in the court. He appeared before Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Third Court Judge Sharmin Khanam Nilar around 1.30 pm on Sunday and testified under Section 22 of the Penal Code. His statement ended at around 3.15 pm.
Investigating officer of the case Shahparan Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Indranil Bhattacharya and her husband were present with the girl at the time.
According to MC College sources, the accused Saifur, Rony and Mahfuzur are irregular graduates of the English department. Arjun is an alumnus. Tareq and Rabiul are external.
