Medical admission question paper leak: 7 doctors, 5 others arrested

Dhaka, 13 August 2023 : Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested 12 people, including seven doctors, for their involvement in the leak of question papers in the medical college admission test.

They said this information in a message on Saturday.

On the question of this year's exam or not, an officer of this department of the police said that they were arrested after investigating the case of question leakage in the past. CID chief Additional IGP Mohammad Ali Mia will give details in a press conference on Sunday.

This time, the admission test for MBBS course in government and private medical colleges was held on March 10.

More than 1 lakh 39 thousand students took the exam this time. Candidates participated in the one-hour 100-mark MCQ exam at 57 venues in 19 centers across the country.

They competed for 4 thousand 350 seats of 37 government medical colleges and 6 thousand 772 seats of 71 private medical colleges of the country.

Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested 12 people, including seven doctors, involved in the leaking of medical college admission test questions.

CID spokesman Additional Superintendent of Police Azad Rahman told the media on Saturday night. He said that the CID has arrested a total of 12 people of the question-leaking ring, including seven doctors involved in the question-leaking of the medical college admission test.

Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit arrested a member of the medical admission examination question loophole on March 9 this year. His name was Md. Miraj Hossain Tuhin. The e-fraud team of the City-Cyber Crime Investigation Department arrested him in a special raid in Mirpur Model Police Station area of the capital.

In a press conference on that day, Assistant Police Commissioner of E-Fraud Team Suranjana Saha said that during regular online monitoring, posts of medical admission test question leaks were seen on Facebook. It can be seen in that post, the members of the fraud circle open fake IDs and ask them to inbox various Facebook groups related to medical admissions with the assurance of 100 percent common question papers.

If someone messages in the inbox, the fraudsters are demanding money for medical entrance exam question papers. Then ask them to pay some money as advance through development and cash. He also said that in this way, fraudsters have stolen money from many people by creating a trap of fraud.
