Dhaka/Kolkata, July 28: Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that if Awami League is not in power, communal violence and militancy will rise. He said this in response to open questions from journalists at the Kolkata Press Club on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the minister of Indian journalists said that when Khaleda Zia was in power, there were bomb attacks in 63 districts of Bangladesh at the same time. Shaykh Abdur Rahman, Bangla Bhai, Afghan trainees used to rehearse in public. This is the tenure of the BNP government.

He said, when we take strict measures against militants, Khaleda Zia is openly saying - Some people are arrested and detained, if they have long hair and beard, they are called militants. Will rise with head. The minorities in Bangladesh will again fall into uncertainty.

Highlighting the ideals of his party, the Information Minister said that the Bangladesh Awami League has struggled as a country against communal evil forces and the party established as a non-communal party. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called for liberation war in order to get out of the communal state system and form a non-communal state. Our freedom has been gained by the combined blood of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians.

He also said that after the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975, BNP founder Ziaur Rahman brought back that communalism after coming to power. Religious politics was stopped in our country after independence, it was reintroduced in 1975. It is sad but true that BNP has communal under-power within its multi-party alliance. There are many groups whose leaders have fought with the Taliban. Many of their leaders openly chanted 'Bangla Hobe Taliban'.

On the question whether BNP will come to the election or not, Dr. Hasan said, they claim that BNP is a party of the people. But the city corporation and even the union council have banned all their parties from participating in the elections.

He said that most of the BNP leaders want to be elected. But they can't because their leadership can't decide. For those who claim to be a people's party or want to survive as a people's party, the constant boycott of elections is a loss. If they boycott the next election too, they will feel the loss even more.
