MoC Senior Assistant Secretary, BB's Assistant Director die of dengue, both were pregnant

Dhaka, July 26: Ministry of Commerce's Senior Assistant Secretary SM Nazia Sultana (WTO Wing) and Bangladesh Bank's Assistant Director Kanta Biswas died of dengue. Both of them were eight-month pregnant.

Nazia Sultana, who was eight-month pregnant, was admitted to Bardem Hospital for two days after suffering from dengue. She passed away on Tuesday morning (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh have expressed deep grief and sorrow over Nazia Sultana's death. In a condolence message on Tuesday, the Commerce Minister and Senior Secretary sought forgiveness for the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to her bereaved family members.

Meanwhile, Kanta Biswas, Assistant Director of Public Accounts Department of Bangladesh Bank, died of dengue. She died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in the capital. She was also eight-month pregnant.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Md. Mejbaul Haque said on Tuesday, "We have learned that Kanta Biswas was infected with dengue and died while undergoing treatment at Popular Hospital in the capital on Sunday night. She was eight-month pregnant. She has a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Kanta Biswas joined Bangladesh Bank as Assistant Director in 2019. Before her death, she was working in the Public Accounts Department."
