Montu Montu feels alternative leader will be found if Kamal does not join councill
Dhaka, Oct 4, 2020: Mostafa Mohsin Montu, the leader of a section of the party, has announced that he will choose the alternative leadership of the People's Forum if Kamal Hossain does not join the council next December.
He was responding to a question from reporters after the first meeting of the council's preparatory committee on Saturday afternoon.
Montu, convener of the council’s preparatory committee, said, ‘Dr. Kamal Hossain is a respectable personality. He is the founder of Gana Forum, I am one of the founding members of Gana Forum. There is going to be a council on December 26 for the stagnation that has been created in the party. We expect him (Kamal Hossain) to join this council. Councilors will elect leaders in the council. If the councilors elect him as the leader, we will work with him without any hesitation as a worker. And if he doesn't come, councilors across the country will decide on alternative leadership. Because the organization cannot sit still.
The BNP-led National Unity Front (NUF) is now on the verge of disintegration due to a dispute between Gonoforum general secretary Reza Kibria and Mostafa Mohsin Montu, Subrata Chowdhury and Abu Sayyid. In the absence of Kamal Hossain, they held an extended meeting of the party's central committee on September 28 and announced the National Council on December 27. Besides, Montu and Subrata also announced the expulsion of four leaders including Reza Kibria.
Mostafa Mohsin Montu has announced a human chain program in front of the National Press Club on October 18 at 11 am to protest against the torture and rape of women across the country.
Gonoforum advocates Subrata Chowdhury, Jaglul Haider Afrik, Khan Siddiqur Rahman, Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, Mohiuddin Abdul Quader and Helal Uddin Ahmed were present at the briefing.
