More than 200,000 worshipers perform Eid prayers together at Gor-e-Shaheed Maidan in Dinajpur

Dhaka, June 29: Around 200,000 worshipers offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers together at the historic Gor-e-Shaheed Maidan in Dinajpur. The worshipers coming from different parts of the country including Dinajpur are happy to pray in this big congregation peacefully.

Ignoring the clouds and rain, the worshipers started gathering at this Eidgah from 7 am. Prayers start at exactly 8:30. Imam was led by Maulana Shamsul Alam Kashemi. After the prayer, a special prayer is offered for the peace of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

Justice M Inayetur Rahim, Jatiya Sangsad Whip Iqbalur Rahim, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed, Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, Dinajpur Municipal Mayor Syed Jahangir Alam and others participated in the large gathering.

Jatiya Sangsad Whip Iqbalur Rahim said that usually there are less worshipers during Eid-ul-Azha. But this time the number of pilgrims did not decrease as there were special trains from Panchagarh to Dinajpur and Parvatipur to Dinajpur. Even in hostile weather, 200,000 devout Muslims prayed in this congregation.

The worshipers who participated in the prayers said that this time the Eid congregation was held at 8:30 in the morning, so worshipers from far and wide were able to participate. They expressed their relief to be able to pray.

Abul Kalam Azad (65) came from Thakurgaon to pray in a special train. He said, I have heard about this congregation before. Happy to pray here. I offered Eid prayers for the first time with so many worshippers.

Dinajpur Station Super AKM Ziaur Rahman said that special trains from Panchagarh to Dinajpur and Parvatipur to Dinajpur arrived at Dinajpur station at 7:30 am and 8:30 am. At 9:30 AM it left for the destination again.
