Most of the Covid-19 deceased had diabetes and high blood pressure: DGHS

Dhaka, September 28: According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), around 69 percent of all the Covid-19 deceased in Bangladesh has diabetes and high blood pressure.

According to the DGHS, 189 patients died of coronavirus in the country in the last one week (38th epidemiological week- September 20-27). Among them were 98 females and 93 males.

Four of the deceased were pregnant. On the other hand, in the previous week (37th epidemiological week- September 13-19) the death toll was 294.

Data from the DGHS show that 110 of the 189 people who died this week were suffering from other complex diseases apart from Covid-19. In addition, 152 of the 294 people who died in the previous week were suffering from complex diseases.

Statistics showed that 69.1 percent of people who died in the 38th week had diabetes and high blood pressure. Apart from these, some of the deceased had chest, heart, kidney, liver and neurological ailments.

On the other hand, the number of patients suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure in the 37th week was 64.5 percent and 63.8 percent respectively.
