Munshiganj Munshiganj: Ancient idol recovered from Raja Ballal Sen's Dighi
Dhaka, March 31: The head of a precious stone idol was recovered from the Raja Ballal Sen's Dighi at Rampal village of Munshiganj Sadar upazila. Locals believe it could be the head of a hard stone idol.
On Thursday (March 30) at around 10:30 am, workers were digging irrigation water lines for agriculture on the land of local farmer Md. Rahmatullah in the filled up part of Raja Ballal Sen's Dighi next to Enayetnagar area of Rampal Union of Sadar Upazila. At this time the head of a statue came out.
Local Rampal Union Parishad Secretary Md. Kabir Hossain took the head part of the statue from the workers. Later it was handed over by the district administration to Assistant Commissioner Md. Touhidul Islam Bari of Nezarat branch.
Assistant Commissioner Md. Tauhidul Islam Bari said the statue was found while working on the land of local farmer Rahmatullah Dewan. The idol weighs 4 kg 789 grams. It will be sent to a lab in Dhaka for testing to verify whether it is a hard stone idol.
