Dhaka, December 16: Muslim leaders (alem) have assured not to agitate against the installation of the sculpture of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the talks will continue and the problem will be resolved through dialogues.

The Home Minister made the remarks at the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 15) regarding the decision to hold a meeting with the country's top scholars on Monday night (December 14) to resolve the unrest over the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture.

Qaumi scholars, including the leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, have been opposing the installation of Bangabandhu's sculpture at Dholairpara in Dhaka. On the night of December 4, the right hand, whole face and part of the left hand of the sculpture of Bangabandhu under construction at the intersection of Panchrastar in Kushtia city were smashed.

The Home Minister said, "At my residence in Dhanmondi, 12 top scholars of the country, led by Maulana Mahmudul Hasan, President of Qaumi Madrasa Education Board Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh and Chairman of Al Hayatul Uliya Lil Jamiatil Qaumiya Bangladesh, sat together and exchanged views."

"The meeting was attended by 12 scholars including Maulana Farid Uddin Masood, Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, Obaidul Rahman Nadvi, Maulana Md. Nurul Islam. Our Minister of State for Religion (Faridul Haque Khan), Secretary of the Ministry of Religion and our Additional Secretaries were present."

He said, ‘On December 5, the top scholars of the country came together at the call of Mahmudul Hasan. There they talked about many things. They sent a letter to the Prime Minister, they also gave us a copy of that letter. He went there to talk about it. There has been a fruitful conversation."

‘The decision is like this, there will be more talk about what we have talked about. We think we can solve all our problems through dialogue. We can reach a consensus."

The minister said, "We can reach a consensus on all the talks that are coming out through their talks. They also hold in their hearts that the greatest Bengali of all time is the father of our nation. They also acknowledge that our Prime Minister is a pure Muslim, fulfilling her religious responsibilities."

He said, "After a long discussion, it has been decided that as much as we are united through dialogue, there are more questions that we can resolve through consensus, InshaAllah. All five of their proposals have been discussed."
