Must say a firm 'no' to war and conflict: PM to world leaders

Dhaka, Nov 23: Addressing the world leaders, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the world must firmly say 'no' to all kinds of wars and conflicts to protect mankind and humanity. In today's globalized environment it must be easy to say a firm 'no' to all wars and conflicts to save human life and humanity.

She said that any problem with neighbors can be solved through discussion. The relationship between Bangladesh and India its role model. The two countries have proved that they have resolved the long-standing complexities of water and land boundaries at the negotiating table.

The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh is committed to global peace and prosperity. Just as we must stand by the victims in Gaza, we must also ensure the repatriation of the citizens of Myanmar who came to Bangladesh under torture to their motherland.

She said this while addressing the G-20 Virtual Leaders Summit of the Alliance of Developing Countries in New Delhi on Wednesday evening from the Ganabhaban. She welcomed the coming forward of this alliance of developing countries to support the infrastructure, climate and technology sectors by forming a multinational development bank for low and middle income countries.

Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh is working to build 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. As the 35th largest economy, Bangladesh is moving forward by facing various crises.

She said that the theme of this conference 'One World, One Family, One Future' will inspire us all to make the world a beautiful home for future generations.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Along with the current war situation in Europe, sanctions and counter-sanctions have caused humanitarian and economic disaster around the world and this misery is continuing."

Referring to the Israeli aggression in Palestine, she said, "We have been witnessing merciless massacres in Palestine for one and a half months, where thousands of men and women have been killed and sadly five thousand innocent children have lost their lives."

The Prime Minister said that such despicable actions have shocked the entire world, which has pushed the world to the face of further disaster. It has also hampered global economic growth.

The Prime Minister called on the world leaders and said, I call on the world leaders present at today's conference to unite and demand a ceasefire in Gaza right now. At the same time, arrangements should be made to provide immediate and unhindered humanitarian assistance to the victims of brutality.

World leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau participated in the summit chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
