Bangamata My mother has accompanied my father even in death: Sheikh Hasina
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 8 August 2023: "Mother has accompanied my father in life as well as in death," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Tuesday, August 8 at the capital's Osmani Smriti Auditorium during the 'Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib 93rd Birth Anniversary Celebration'.
Sheikh Hasina said, "On August 15, 1975, they attacked our house and killed my father. My mother came out and they asked her to accompany them. My mother said, since you killed him, shoot me too. I will not go anywhere. My mother accompanied my father in life as well as in death. My mother did not beg for life. At that time, people wants to live."
She said, "My father was busy in politics, while my mother arranged everything, including the family. She had developed a humane character since childhood. I had never seen my mother break down in the ups and downs of life due to my father's political career. She always supported my father by being in his side. She even gave him financial support."
"My father was successful because my mother was by his side. If my mother had said, like others 'give me jewelry today, give me furniture tomorrow, give me that', he would not have been able to make the country independent."
