Dhaka, Feb 6: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the Bangladesh Armed Forces and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) to be patient on the Myanmar issue.

Law Minister Anisul Huq said this in response to a supplementary question by Jatiya Party Secretary General Mojibul Haque Chunnu during the question and answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad on February 5.

On behalf of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, the Law Minister answered the questions of the parliamentarians in the question and answer session in Parliament. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the question and answer session at the beginning of the meeting.

Mujibul Haque Chunnu said in a supplementary question, "In our neighboring country, Myanmar, many rebel forces are fighting a war with internal separatist government forces. Due to which common people are trying to infiltrate into Bangladesh from there. Shooting is happening. That bullet is coming to Bangladesh."

He said, "According to newspaper reports, some shells were also found there (on the Bangladeshi border). People are suffering from insecurity. Educational institutions are probably closed. In this situation, I would like to know what steps have been taken by the government regarding the security of our border and local people."

In response, Law Minister Anisul Huq said that the government is aware of this matter. In what happened today, 78 Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) have crossed into Bangladesh. Some of them are injured. They are being treated. They are kept in a school for now.

The minister said that talks with Myanmar have been ordered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. We are talking about that discussion and what other measures can be taken if they (BGP members) are sent back or not sent back. One of us died in a mortar shell on Sunday. One of them also died. Bangladesh is monitoring this ongoing situation very closely. Action will be taken soon.

Stating the directives of the Prime Minister regarding border tension, the Law Minister said that the Prime Minister has instructed our armed forces and paramilitary forces (BGB) to exercise patience. Keeping in mind the safety of the students, arrangements have been made to close some educational institutions on the border.
