Mymensingh: Accused snatched after hacking 3 policemen

Dhaka, March 18: An accused was snatched away from police custody after hacking three policemen in Mymensingh's Trishal on Sunday night, reports said.

The injured police officers are undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be critical. The incident took place in Shimuliapara area of Dhanikhla Union of Trishal around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

The injured police officers are SI Ismail Hossain (30), ASI Golam Rasul (35) and ASI Rakib (39). All of them are working in Trishal police station. Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Police Camp Incharge (SI) Mohammad Jahangir confirmed this information.

He said that ASI Rakib sustained injury in his stomach. He is in the operation theatre. SI Ismail has bruises on his back and ASI Rasool on his elbows. Among them, Rakib's condition is somewhat serious.

Trishal Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Chand Mia said that the police officers went to Shimuliapara area of Dhanikhla Union to arrest an accused named Bedena. When the accused was found at home and wanted to be arrested, her sons Naeem and Haroon hacked three police officers and snatched away their mother.

He further said that on hearing the news, the injured policemen were rescued and sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. But accused Bedena and others escaped. An operation is underway to arrest them.
