Dhaka, March 1: During a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister at Ganobhaban on Tuesday morning, Argentina's Foreign Minister Santiago Andres Cafiero said, "I never thought that Bangladesh would be so beautiful."

Andres Cafiero expressed the hope that economic, trade and business cooperation between the two countries would increase with the reopening of the Argentine embassy in Dhaka.

He said, "Argentina is very happy that their embassy has reopened in Dhaka." He thanked the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for his cooperation in this regard.

The visiting Argentine minister said that Argentina first opened its embassy in Dhaka in 1974. It was closed in 1978 during the regime military junta. On Monday (February 28), the Argentine Embassy in Dhaka's Banani reopened.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister sought the cooperation of the current world champion Argentina in the development of football in Bangladesh.

She said, "Argentina can help Bangladesh in the development of football in Bangladesh. The prime minister also mentioned that Lionel Messi and Argentine football are very popular in Bangladesh.

After the meeting, Prime Minister's speech writer Md. Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists.

He said that the Prime Minister emphasized the need to increase cooperation between Bangladesh and Argentina in various sectors including trade, economic, social, sports, culture and tourism for mutual benefit. He also said that Bangladesh government is interested in strengthening communication with Argentina.

The head of government said, "Dhaka is very interested in increasing relations with Buenos Aires. Through enhanced cooperation, the two countries can change the destiny of the people through socio-economic progress. Argentina can import high-quality pharmaceuticals, jute and jute products, leather and leather products, besides ready-made garments from Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladesh can import soybeans, animal vegetable fats and oils, oilseeds, fruits, dairy products and natural honey from Argentina."

Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh government is establishing 100 special economic zones across the country with the aim of creating employment and industrialization. Bangladesh is now a marketing center in South Asia. The government is building strong communication infrastructure not only within the country but also with neighboring countries."
