New Army Chief New army chief Shafiuddin adorned with General rank badge
Dhaka, June 24: The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has been conferred the rank of General. The badge was worn at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban on Thursday (June 24).
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal and Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan presented the badge to SM Shafiuddin Ahmed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present at the time.
Shafiuddin Ahmed replaced the outgoing army chief General Aziz Ahmed. On June 10, a notification from the Ministry of Defense informed about Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed's promotion to the post of Chief of Army Staff.
Earlier, he was served as the Quartermaster General (QMG) of the Army. SM Shafiuddin Ahmed took charge as QMG on December 30 last year. Prior to assuming this position, he served as GOC, ARTDOC.
Besides, Shafiuddin Ahmed served as GOC and Area Commander, Logistics Area, an Infantry Battalion and Battalion Commander at Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), an Infantry Brigade and Director of Army Training Directorate.
