Dhaka, April 14: The first day of Baisakh is welcomed with colorful festivals as the country indulges in celebrations. The first light of dawn of the first day of the new Bengali year colors new dreams, hopes and possibilities. All over the country, including the capital, there were various arrangements for the New Year. New Bengali year 1430 has been added to Bengali calendar today.

The new year is welcomed in a joyful atmosphere. New Year is a symbol of prosperity and new life. New Year is celebrated to forget the sorrow of past mistakes and failures and wish for happiness, peace and prosperity. The Bengali community urges that everything worn out should be washed away.

In order to celebrate the 'Bangla New Year 1430' in a grand manner, a comprehensive program was undertaken at the national level. The day is a public holiday. Various socio-cultural organizations undertake detailed programmes. Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University organizes 'Mangal Shobhayatra' and cultural programs. Chhaynath organized cultural programs at Ramana Botamule early in the morning.

The Department of Theater and Performance Studies of Dhaka University celebrated the day through various programs throughout the day. Other cultural organizations including Rishi artist group celebrated Bengali New Year with due dignity.

The Bengali New Year program begins with the performance of the National Anthem and 'Eso Hey Baisakh' song. The significance of Bangla New Year and the history of Mangal Shobhayatra and its inclusion as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO have been published in various national newspapers under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Bangla Academy.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organized a day-long programme. Traditional Bengali food and Iftar were organized in all prisons, hospitals and orphanages on Bengali New Year. This time, the concerned department of the government had given instructions to celebrate Bengali New Year compulsorily to all the educational institutions of the country.

The procession started at 9 am from Dhaka University (DU) Fine Arts. The procession took a turn at Shahbagh and ended again at the same place. In the procession, there were various topics of symbolic presentation of the history and tradition of modern Bengal along with the flow of recent events.

Festival of life of the Bengalis, the festival of life, is the main accompaniment of Bengali Varsvaran. The theme of this year's Mangal Sobhayatra was taken from Rabindranath Tagore's song - 'Barisho Dhora Majhe Shantir Bari'.
