Dhaka, December 13: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Digital Bangladesh has been done, but no work was stopped during the Corona period, and this time our target will be the Bangladesh of the future — Smart Bangladesh.

Hasina said this at the inauguration and award ceremony of Digital Bangladesh Day-2022 on Monday (December 12).

On this day, the Prime Minister inaugurated Joy Silicon Tower and Bangabandhu Museum at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Rajshahi, and Sheikh Kamal IT Training Center in Barisal.

She said, "I am old. I can leave anytime. But I am not sitting. Planning and showing a beautiful path for the next generation. If we are alive, we will implement it, or our youth will do it."

The Prime Minister said that future Bangladesh will be a smart Bangladesh. Four Basic Pillars of Smart Bangladesh. Number one, the smart citizen. Every citizen should be efficient and useful in using technology. Number two, smart economy. All transactions and uses of our economy will be technology-dependent. Number three, smart government. All government facilities and activities will be technology-dependent, technology will be used everywhere. And finally number four, Smart Society. Our whole society will be technology friendly.

Sheikh Hasina said that no work has stopped during the Corona period because Digital Bangladesh has been made. From my office to courts, universities, government offices, everything was running virtually.

Highlighting the benefits of using technology, she said that 18 crore mobile SIMs are used in Bangladesh now. Probably no other country in the world uses so many SIMs. Workers' salaries, primary school stipends go to children's mothers' mobile phones. At the time of this scholarship, 20 lakh mothers did not have a mobile phone. We started it by buying their mobile phones.

Regarding the recognition of freelancers and their earnings, Sheikh Hasina said, at the time of marriage, what job does the son-in-law do? If it was called freelancing; Earning Tk 2-3 lakh per month. Whatever it means after that. Still freelancing. No one wanted to understand. Then we also recognized it. I have made it (bringing income of freelancers to the country) easier by telling the Governor of Bangladesh Bank. They no longer have difficulty in getting money.
