Dhaka, March 26, 2021: Members of the police force have been on duty in the area since morning to prevent chaos and sabotage during the strike called by Hefazat on Sunday. But none of the strikers are on the field.

At this time, public transport and other vehicles were seen moving on the road. However, the number of passengers is less than other days. Many did not leave their homes for fear of the news of the strike. However, those who have left have reached their respective destinations in a short time.

Though the leaders and activists of Hefazat were not seen at Shahbagh intersection, after a while the leaders and activists of the ruling party Chhatra League were seen patrolling the Dhaka University campus and the leaders and activists of other organizations with processions and motorcycle processions with the slogan 'Joy Bangla'. Divided into several groups, some of them were sitting in front of the tea shop or flower shop and chatting to get chairs in the road division.

Hefazat-e-Islam called for a protest rally on Saturday (March 26th) and a strike on Sunday (March 26th) to protest the deaths of activists in clashes surrounding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit.

At a press conference in the capital's Purana Paltan on Friday (March 26th) night, the organisation's central naib Amir Abdur Rab Yousufi announced a morning-evening strike on Sunday.

Abdur Rab said, "I am announcing this program on behalf of Amir Junaid Babungari of Hifazat-e-Islam. Police and government cadres attacked the protesting worshipers at different places including Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka, Hathazari in Chittagong and Brahmanbaria, killing five people. Numerous worshipers were injured and arrested. The program has been given in protest.
