Chittagong Metro Rail Obaidul Quader inaugurates pre-feasibility verification work of construction of metro rail in Chittagong
Dhaka, February 1: For the purpose of constructing metro rail in the port city of Chittagong, master plan preparation and initial feasibility study work has been inaugurated. Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader inaugurated the metro rail construction and feasibility study work in Chittagong by connecting virtually from his residence in Dhaka on Tuesday.
At that time, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that this project, the dream of the young generation, will play an important role in decongesting the country's port city of Chittagong and building a sustainable transport system, and like Dhaka, the metro rail will become very attractive in Chittagong.
Obaidul Quader said that today's awaited day will be memorable for the people of Chittagong in terms of transportation.
In the opening speech, Obaidul Quader highlighted various activities of the Sheikh Hasina government, including the construction of another marine drive for the development of Chittagong, the upgrading of the road to six lanes, the upgrading of the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar road to four lanes.
Obaidul Quader said that the country's first Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel built under the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong will be inaugurated when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gives time.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the construction of the country's first subway metro rail MRT line-1 in Dhaka on February 2. The largest project in the country has been estimated to cost Tk 52,000 crores.
