Oil tanker catches fire at Dhaka airport: Brought under control after 42 mins

Dhaka, December 15: Four fire tender units of Kurmitola and Uttara fire stations worked to control the fire that broke out in an oil tanker at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area.

The fire broke out around 10 am on Wednesday (December 14). It came under control after 42 minutes. However, no casualty was reported in this incident. The oil tanker that caught fire at the airport had 27,000 liters of diesel.

Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) of the Airport Armed Police Battalion, said on Wednesday (December 14) at noon that a truck used to supply oil used for the third terminal caught fire first. The fire was caused by a spark from a generator used while loading oil from one truck to another. Meanwhile, the fire also spread to another truck. The first truck that caught fire belonged to Alif Enterprises.

Another truck was gutted in the fire. The truck had a total of 27,000 liters of diesel. The name of the driver of the burnt truck is Golam Mustafa.

Earlier, the fire started in the oil tanker at 10:10 am. On receiving the information, four units of the fire service went to the spot and brought the fire under control at 10:52 am. However, the extent of the damage is not known.
