Dhaka, August 1, 2021: Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said the government now wants to make vaccination the main tool in controlling the Corona epidemic.

"We have adequate vaccine stocks. Even the supply chain is good. The government plans to vaccinate 10 million people every week from this month (August)," the Minister said.

Then, in the next two months, half the people of the country will be vaccinated, ”he said at the handover ceremony of 7,81,320 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (July 31) afternoon.

At the time, Health Minister Zahid Malek, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lokman Hossain Mia, Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. ABM Khurshid Alam, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nike Ito and other officials were present.

"Japan is our tested friend," he said. Japan has been cooperating with us in various fields since independence. I recently had a talk with the country's foreign minister. He assured Bangladesh of necessary assistance in tackling the Corona epidemic.

He added, "Our health minister, the secretary had said a while ago, we have started vaccinating at the village level from August 8. 10 million people will be vaccinated every week. It is a matter of concern how many countries in the world have the precedent of bringing so many people under vaccination together. '

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Zahid Malek said, "Currently, the government has over 1 crore corona vaccines. Another 20 million vaccines will arrive by August. Thus, the government will get about 21 crore vaccines by the beginning of next year, including 30 million from China, 60 million from Russia, 70 million from Johnson & Johnson and 3 million from AstraZeneca. Through this, the government will be able to vaccinate at least 80 percent of the people in the country.
