Opposition leaders meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Dhaka, March 26: Several leaders of the opposition Jatiya Party in Parliament met with visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dhaka. The meeting started at Hotel Sonargaon around 20 minutes on Friday (March 26).

JAPA Chief Patron Raushan Ershad's private secretary Mamun Hasan said a four-member Japar delegation had joined the meeting.

Mamun Hasan said Japar's delegation includes Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad Raushan Ershad, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Chairman of the Jatiya Party GM Quader, Secretary General of the party Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and Co-Chairman ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader.

Before the meeting began, former JPA secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawlader told reporters, "We will discuss issues of mutual interest, including the common river share, the Teesta water sharing agreement and trade inequality, with the Indian prime minister."

It may be mentioned that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dhaka today on a two-day visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11 am on Friday (March 26). Narendra Modi is on a visit to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, great independence and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh-India diplomatic relations. Besides, the two prime ministers will hold a bilateral meeting on Saturday (March 26).

Besides, he will visit Jessoreshwari Kali Temple in Satkhira on Saturday. He will then visit the Bangabandhu Memorial at Tungipara in Gopalganj. Narendra Modi will visit the Orakandi pilgrimage site of the Matua community and talk to the people of that community. He is scheduled to return to Delhi on Saturday evening.
