Dhaka, Dec 5, 2020: Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque has termed opposition to the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as treason.

He said that in 1952 these fundamentalists had said that Bengali was the language of Hindus. Now they are giving fatwa on construction of sculpture of Bangabandhu. But in many Muslim countries of the world there are sculptures of Bangabandhu. A sculpture of Bangabandhu will be erected at Dolaipara soon.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a rally at the Dolaipar High School ground in the capital on Saturday (December 5th).

The Liberation War Affairs Minister said, "Opposition to the sculpture of Bangabandhu, the spirit of the Liberation War will never be tolerated." There will be no doubt about his sculpture in Bangabandhu's country. There are some scholars in this subcontinent. Who at one time pushed back the Muslims by saying that English was forbidden. Even in 1971, some hired scholars issued fatwas saying that if Pakistan was broken, Islam would be broken. Fatwa was issued again today, sculpture is illegal. I would like to politely ask the Babungaris, are you like the previous fatwa bearers? I think you are their successor. You want to make religion stand in opposition to social work. They want to confuse people by capitalizing on religion. '

Addressing the opponents of Bangabandhu's sculpture, Mozammel Haque said, "We submitted weapons in 1971 but did not submit training on Bangabandhu's instructions." You will speak against Bangabandhu, will we kiss you? I apologize for talking about the sculpture without understanding it, and if you say it knowingly, be prepared for the consequences. '

The minister further said, "Sculptures are also available in Pakistan. Most Muslim countries have sculptures. I left out the words halal and haram. My question is, if there are sculptures in all Muslim countries, then what is wrong with staying in Bangladesh? '

Speaking as the special guest on the occasion, President of Dhaka Metropolitan Dakshin Swechchhasebak League Kamrul Hasan Ripon said, "I will do my best to build a sculpture of Bangabandhu." Yet I will not allow those hypocritical fatwas to achieve immoral activities. The sculpture of Bangabandhu will be in this Dolaipare.
