Pabna: Awami League candidate wins poll in four seats

Dhaka, September 28, 2020: Awami League candidate Nuruzzaman Biswas has won the Pabna-4 constituency (Ishwardi-Atgharia) by-election of the Jatiya Sangsad with 239,924 votes.

He got more than 230,000 votes than his nearest rival.

His nearest rival, Habibur Rahman Habib, adviser to the BNP chairperson and convener of the Pabna district BNP, got 5,56 votes. Jatiya Party candidate Rezaul Karim Khokon also got 3,064 votes.

Returning Officer Abdul Latif Sheikh announced the results at the Deputy Commissioner's Office at 9:30 pm on Saturday. Voting was held uninterruptedly from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday at 129 centers in Ishwardi and 45 in Atghari. The total number of voters in the two upazilas was 3 lakh 61 thousand 112 people.

Freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas thanked the people of Ishwardi and Atghari in a short response after hearing the results and said that the victory of the pro-liberation forces was achieved here again.

Awami League Central Organizing Secretary and Coordinator of this election SM Kamal Hossain congratulated the people of Ishwardi and Atghari on the victory of the boat candidate and said that the progress of development in the area will continue as the candidate of Sheikh Hasina's government has won.
