Dhaka, Oct 4: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated the call to expatriate Bangladeshis to brighten the image of the country and said, "I am calling on all of you to brighten the image of the country."

She made this call on Tuesday when leaders of UK Awami League and its affiliates and affiliates came to meet Sheikh Hasina at her residence in London.

The Prime Minister mentioned in this context, how many groups of people staying abroad are deliberately slandering the country.

She said, "There are some people among them, who have left the country due to various crimes, misdemeanors or corruption, or lost their jobs due to illegal activities - they are deliberately spreading slander against the country. They (the government) do not see any good and developmental work, rather they find only problems all over Bangladesh all the time."

She directed the leaders and activists of his party to engage in activities through digital and social platforms to combat this hateful propaganda, and the members of Awami League and its organs and affiliated organizations should promote the development work of the government to the people of the country.

Requesting the critics of the government and the country's development activities to visit all over Bangladesh, the Prime Minister said, there are no complaints in rural Bangladesh.

She said, "I can claim that the standard of living of the rural people of Bangladesh has improved and if Awami League is in power, we will do all the remaining work for their better life."

Referring to the reduction of poverty in Bangladesh from 41 percent to 18 percent due to various initiatives of the Awami League government, she said extreme poverty has come down to only 5 percent and the unemployment rate is now only 3 percent.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said, "After Ziaur Rahman and other military dictators illegally seized power after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, Awami League leaders and activists started the movement to bring democracy back to Bangladesh from London in 1980."

The Prime Minister said that since the Awami League won the elections in 2008 and formed the government in 2009, Bangladesh has maintained a stable democracy.

She said, "The country is witnessing this unprecedented development today because of the establishment of democracy. By overcoming both local and global issues like fire and terrorism within the country, we are now taking the country forward."
