PM directs to plan to modernize Red Crescent Society

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 4: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed to formulate a plant to modernize the Red Crescent Society and to restore the status of the Holy Family Hospital.

She gave this instruction when the newly elected board members of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society went to a courtesy meeting at Ganabhaban on Wednesday (August 3).

A press release sent from the press wing of the Prime Minister's Office said that in the meeting, the board members informed about the activities of the Red Crescent Society during disasters including flood, corona and Rohingya crisis.

They expressed gratitude to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for establishing the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and wished peace to the souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who were martyred in the heinous and brutal killings in history on August 15, 1975.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina lauded the activities of the Red Crescent Society during the disaster and especially urged the young generation to engage in the service of humanity.

She mentioned that her government and her personal cooperation will continue as always in expanding the activities of the Red Crescent Society nationwide. She also congratulated Bangladesh Red Crescent Society's Chairman Major General (retd) ATM Abdul Wahab for being elected as a member of IFRC for the next 4 years.
