PM Hasina, aides leave USA for Bangladesh, to arrive on Friday night

Dhaka, October 1: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was in the USA for two weeks to attend the 76th session of the United Nations, has left Washington DC for Dhaka on Thursday night with her traveling companions.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said a VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with Sheikh Hasina and her entourage has left Washington Dulles International Airport for Dhaka. He said Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Rabab Fatima bade farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport.

The plane carrying the Prime Minister will arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland at 7:40 am local time (10:40 am Bangladesh Time) on Friday. Ambassador to Finland (Non-Resident) Md. Nazmul Islam will receive the Prime Minister at the airport. After a two-hour break, the plane will leave for Dhaka. The plane is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday (October 1) at 10:15 pm Bangladesh time.

On the morning of September 17, the Prime Minister and her entourage left Dhaka for New York on a VVIP flight. The Prime Minister arrived in New York on September 19 after a two-day break in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

During her stay in New York, Sheikh Hasina addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on 24 September. She followed in the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and delivered a speech in Bengali.

During her stay in New York from 19 to 24 September, she attended a number of high-level and closed-door meetings and held bilateral meetings with heads of various governments, states and organizations.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Minister planted a sapling in honour of Bangabandhu at the UN Garden on the North Lawn of the United Nations Headquarters, on September 20.
