Dhaka, September 27: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has set a target of administering 80 lakh doses of the coronavirus vaccine through a nationwide campaign on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's birthday on September 28 (Tuesday).

The vaccine will be given in more than 6,000 centers across the country through multiple shifts throughout the day from 9:00 am.

In the first two hours of vaccination, women over the age of 50 and those who are physically challenged will be given priority. Health Minister Zahid Maleque made the remarks at a virtual press briefing at noon on Sunday (September 26).

He sought the cooperation of all, including ministers, members of parliament, politicians and media personnel to meet the target of administering 80 lakh doses on the Prime Minister's birthday.

The health minister said 5,52,00,000 vaccines have been received so far, out of which 4,02,00,000 people have been vaccinated with the first and second doses.
