PM Hasina calls on armed forces to acquire the capability to retaliate in the event of an attack

Dhaka, December 14: Reiterating the country's foreign policy to the effect that "Bangladesh wants peace, not war", Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed on the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces to acquire the capability to retaliate if the country's independence and sovereignty are attacked.

"We don't want war, we want peace. But if someone attacks our sovereignty, the armed forces should be able to retaliate. This is something that the members of our armed forces must always remember," she said

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks while addressing the graduation ceremony of National Defense Course (NDC) -20 and Armed Forces War Course (AFWC-2020) at Sheikh Hasina Complex in Mirpur Cantonment this morning.

She participated in the event virtually through video conference from Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said, "More than one million of them have taken refuge in our country from Myanmar. We have never had a conflict with them (Myanmar) and we are trying to resolve it through negotiations and we have called on everyone in the international arena - we have a huge burden - to resolve it quickly. "

Reiterating the foreign policy of the father of the nation, "Friendship with all is not enmity with anyone," the Prime Minister said Bangladesh has friendly relations with all. The biggest thing is to improve our country. He needs investment.

She said, "We are trying to build our country for the development of Bangladesh by maintaining friendly relations with all and with as much cooperation and technical knowledge as we can." We have to keep in mind that we will have friendly relations with everyone."

Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh Armed Forces will always be ready for the security of our country, regional security and peace in the international arena and we are working in that way, that is why we have gained dignity all over the world today."

"We have this freedom in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs," she said. "We want to bring the benefits of this to the homes of every person in Bengal."
