PM Hasina congratulates Mamata Banerjee as latter becomes Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third time

Dhaka, May 6: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated Mamata Banerjee on taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third time in a row. She congratulated her in a message on Thursday (May 6), Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Sarwar Sarkar Jibon said.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated Mamata Banerjee for taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for three consecutive terms.

This time, Mamata's Trinamool Congress has won 213 seats in the 292-seat West Bengal Assembly. After the victory, Mamata was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the third time at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday (May 5) at 11:15 am.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen congratulated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party, the Trinamool Congress, on its historic victory in the state assembly elections. In a letter to Mamata Banerjee on Thursday, Dr Momen congratulated her.

The Foreign Minister said, "The Trinamool Congress has won the support of the people for forming the government for the third time in a row, which is a reflection of the continued confidence and trust of the people of West Bengal in your leadership. We are grateful to you for embracing the long-cherished Bengali values ​​of 'religious harmony and brotherhood' and for which Bangabandhu has played a leading role throughout his life."

Dr. Momen noted that excellent bilateral relations exist between Bangladesh and India and the potential areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries have expanded in recent years. Undivided history, culture, language, values ​​and hereditary connections have made the relationship between the peoples of the two countries unique and strong.

He said, in particular, the people of West Bengal have a special place in the hearts of Bangladeshis. On this special year of celebrating the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, the anniversary of Mujib and 50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and India, the Foreign Minister gratefully remembers the support and sacrifices of the people of India and the political leadership, including the people of West Bengal.

"We believe that through your commitment and cooperation, the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened and unresolved issues will be resolved," the Foreign Minister told Mamata Banerjee.
