Hasina | Charles PM Hasina meets King Charles III
Dhaka, September 19: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the reception of King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. On Sunday evening local time, the Prime Minister was accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.
King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla hosted the reception for presidents, prime ministers and members of royal families from around the world. The king welcomed about 500 guests at the event. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was among them.
The event was attended by world leaders including Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex, Princess Anne, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence and other members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Saida Muna Tasneem, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh posted to the UK, told reporters that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had a long talk with the new king and queen who took over. He said that both the King and the Queen Consort expressed regret over the postponement of their scheduled visit to Bangladesh in October.
Sheikh Hasina went to the United Kingdom on September 15 to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. She will leave London for New York on Monday evening to attend the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
