Dhaka, February 20, 2022: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her government will continue its efforts to achieve economic empowerment as well as develop the country's language, literature and culture at the international level.

"We will strive to make our language, literature and culture more developed at the international level," Sheikh Hasina said.

The Prime Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Ekushey Padak 2022 awarding function on the occasion of Amar Ekushey February and International Mother Language Day.

The Prime Minister joined the virtual event at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital via video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday morning.

Sheikh Hasina said, "We are working to change the destiny of the grassroots, the neglected people in Bangladesh. At the same time, we want to achieve economic empowerment and make our language, literature and culture more developed at the international level. So I believe we will succeed in that endeavor as well."

The Prime Minister congratulated all those who received the award today and those who are still working.

She expressed optimism that Bangladesh is moving forward and will continue to move forward.

"Only these geniuses will show us the way. We have made this progress possible today because of your contribution in various fields. I want our new generation to follow in your footsteps and work for the welfare of the country," she said.

The Prime Minister said, "Ekush inspires us. Twenty-one does not mean to bow one's head. Therefore, Immortal Ekushey February Day is very significant for us."

Mentioning that our independence has been achieved through many struggles along the path of Ekushey, the Prime Minister said, "In this struggle, various people who have directly participated in the liberation war, have struggled and struggled, but also many others have cooperated in various ways." People have contributed to every struggle. He said that just as someone has taken to the streets directly to the movement, they have also contributed to the movement through language, culture, songs, plays, poems, etc., and their contribution will always be remembered."

The Prime Minister said the contribution of the Father of the Nation had made our independent nationhood and Bangladesh an independent nation-state. She said that when the Father of the Nation was leading the country to the path of development by building a war-torn country by making it independent, the Bengali nation was hit on August 15, 1975 by killing him and his family.
