Dhaka, May 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed hope that the World Bank will be with us in our encouraging journey to build Smart Bangladesh. She also urged to work together in the spirit of mutual trust for a brighter future.

The Prime Minister made this call on Monday (May 1) at the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition organized on the occasion of 50 years of Bangladesh-World Bank partnership.

Sheikh Hasina along with World Bank President David Malpass jointly inaugurated the photo exhibition. Then they visited some parts of the exhibition.

She said that the story of the development of the backward people of Bangladesh has been highlighted in this photo exhibition.

She said, this is a reflection of our government's determination to make Bangladesh a tolerant and prosperous land. At this time, Sheikh Hasina thanked the World Bank and other development partners for having a common vision towards an inclusive growth.

She said, poverty and hunger are our common enemies. We will not rest until these are overcome.

Commenting that this photo exhibition will remind us of what has been achieved together and what remains to be done, the Prime Minister said that the exhibition also highlights the importance of making the right political decisions.

She also said that the kind of smile that our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to see in the distressed people is reflected in this exhibition.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was welcomed by the World Bank's Country Director in Bangladesh Abdoulaye Sek and its SAR VP Martin Riser on her arrival at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC.
