PM pays tribute on Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day

Dhaka, Jan 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of his Homecoming Day.

On the morning of Wednesday (January 10), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid floral tributes to the portrait of the father of the nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi. Then she stood there in silence for a while.

Later Awami League president Sheikh Hasina along with the central leaders placed another wreath on the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party. After that, the leaders and activists of various socio-cultural organizations including Jubo League, Chhatra League, Shramik League, Mahila Awami League, Swachhasebak League, Krishak League paid tribute to Bangabandhu with flowers.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's homecoming day today is January 10. On this day in 1972, he returned to the soil of newly independent Bangladesh after being released from the captivity of Pakistan. After nine months of imprisonment, he was released from Pakistan prison on January 8. Later went to London from Pakistan and returned to Dhaka via Delhi.

Awami League has organized a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan today on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic homecoming day. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the rally will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan at 2:30 pm. Awami League president Sheikh Hasina will preside over the rally.
