PM Sheikh Hasina orders to formulate pension scheme for all citizens above 60

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 18: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to formulate a universal pension scheme for citizens of the country aged above 60 and to form an authority.

She gave the directive at a meeting held at Ganobhaban on Thursday (February 17).

On the same day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina observed a presentation by the Finance Department on 'Introduction of Universal Pension Scheme'. According to the last election manifesto of Bangladesh Awami League, the Prime Minister directed to formulate a universal pension scheme for all citizens aged above 60 of all types of informal sector including public and private sector, and to form an authority for this.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ahmed Kaikaus, Senior Secretary to the Finance Department Abdur Rauf Talukder, Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Secretary to the Economic Relations Department Fatima Yasmin and Secretary to the Planning Department Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
