PM Sheikh Hasina says those unable to see development should show eye specialists

Dhaka, 27 November 2022 : Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina advised those who do not see development to show an eye doctor.

She said, those who do not see the development of Bangladesh, their eyes are damaged, they can see a doctor if they want.

"We have established a modern eye institute. And if you are blind from your eyes, there is nothing to do," she said.

The Prime Minister said these things while attending the ceremony to celebrate the completion of the 1st tube of the Bangabandhu Tunnel built under the Karnaphuli river in Chittagong on Saturday (November 26) through video conference.

Sheikh Hasina said, the heart is in Chittagong. If I could go and see the tunnel tube myself, I would be happy. But if God keeps me healthy, I will go.

She said, Abba (Bangabandhu) used to take Chittagong and Cox's Bazar when he was alive. I have been to Chittagong and Cox's Bazar many times in my life. Due to which Chittagong has a different pull.

The Prime Minister said that today Bangladesh is considered as a wonder of development in the world. But those who were in power before us, they did not want the development of this country. As a result, the country could not move forward.

In the last 14 years, we have done the task of making this country the Bangladesh of the father of the nation's dream. She said, "We have greatly improved the communication system. I have used many advanced technologies in it. A few days ago we inaugurated the Padma Bridge, we have shown what we can do with our own funding. I have constructed a tunnel under the river Karnaphuli. This was also the demand of Chittagong Mayor Mohiuddin."

The Prime Minister said that China initially did not want to take the loan proposal for the construction of the tunnel and said that during the visit to China, I gave this proposal back to the Chinese Prime Minister. He agreed at the dinner table. Our team members go out and prepare (proposal) without eating. Later its agreement was signed. I am also grateful to them.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Ziming, Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam, Bridges Secretary Manjur Hossain spoke on the occasion. Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister conducted the program. Ahmad Kaykaus.
