Dhaka, Oct 30: Mentioning that Bangladesh has to move forward through everything including modern knowledge and science, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she is doing her best, and the progress of Bangladesh should not stop. She urged everyone to continue the progress of the country.

The Prime Minister said this in a speech delivered at a special convocation ceremony organized at Dhaka University playground on Sunday (October 29) noon.

She said that the students who are 20 years old today cannot even understand what Bangladesh was like 20 years ago. There was hunger, poverty, no progress in science. Since 1996, we have taken steps to make technology education, computer education and digital Bangladesh.

Addressing the students, the Prime Minister said, "This is my wish for our students to advance the country in modern knowledge and science. I am doing my best. After that, the progress of Bangladesh should not stop. Today in Bangladesh we have been able to alleviate poverty and make economic progress. Though covid has created a setback for us and globally."

Addressing the teachers and students of the university, she said that this country should be developed in knowledge and science. "We should not forget that we won the liberation war. We are a winning nation. We must stand tall in the court of the world. People of the village should not be forgotten after learning education. The more they improve, the more the country will improve. Progress must be universal, not the progress of a few. This development should be from the grassroots," she added.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Our language movement started from Dhaka University in 1948. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took this initiative. The struggle started from the language movement. In this regard, Bangabandhu said, 'The thought of forming an independent state for Bengalis started from 1948.' Bangabandhu decided during the language movement that this country should be freed, the Bengali nation should be freed. That is how he proceeded step by step."
